Priority Pass Select Guide

There are a ton of premium credit cards that offer Priority Pass Select membership. Priority Pass Select is a membership you get to access Priority Pass lounges through a U.S. financial institution. Priority Pass also sells regular memberships on their website. If you are interested in a Priority Pass membership, I suggest getting one through a credit card that offers it. It will often be a better deal when you look at the other benefits the credit card offers you in addition to the Priority Pass Select membership.

Priority Pass is a collection of over 1,000 lounges worldwide. Lounges join the Priority Pass network in order to fill their lounges with more people, and thus make more money. We have used this benefit countless times at lounges throughout the world. Usually, they are not outstanding lounges, but they still beat waiting in the airport terminal with everyone else. Plus they usually offer food, drinks, and decent wifi.

Priority Pass Lounge in Bali

Here are the main credit cards that get you a Priority Pass Select membership.

American Express Platinum & Business Platinum

You and 2 guests can enter lounges for free. Each guest after that will give you a $27 charge to your credit card. This membership also gives you access to a digital membership card in the Priority Pass app so you do not need to carry your physical Priority Pass Select membership card with you.

American Express Surpass

It costs $27 for you to enter and $27 for a guest to enter. I got caught a few times using this Priority Pass Select membership by mistake. This membership also gives you access to a digital membership card in the Priority Pass app so you do not need to carry your physical Priority Pass Select membership card with you.

Citi Prestige

You and 2 guests can enter for free and, in addition to that, you can also bring your immediate family for free. Each guest after will be a $27 charge to your credit card. One interesting thing about this is that there is no way Citi can verify if your guests were immediate family members or not. I recently brought 3 guests into a lounge with me using this card and was never charged the $27 fee for the 3rd guest. My guess is that Citi will only reach out to ask you about who you brought in if you bring a very large number of people in; otherwise, it seems that they will just assume you brought family and charge you nothing. This membership also gives you access to a digital membership card in the Priority Pass app so you do not need to carry your physical Priority Pass Select membership card with you.

Chase Sapphire Reserve

You can bring unlimited guests in for free. This membership does not give you access to a digital membership card, so you must carry your physical Priority Pass Select membership card to access a lounge.

Chase Ritz-Carlton

You can bring unlimited guests in for free. This membership does not give you access to a digital membership card, so you must carry your physical Priority Pass Select membership card to access a lounge.

Conclusion

Priority Pass Select membership is a great benefit to have while traveling internationally (where most of the lounges are located). It also gets you into a few lounges in the U.S. You can search for lounges easily in the Priority Pass mobile app. I make sure to do this whenever I am heading to a new airport to check and see if there is a lounge I can use.

It’s interesting how the different benefits compare. Amex and Citi offer 2 free guests and give you access to a digital membership card (not including the Amex Hilton Surpass), whereas Chase gives you unlimited guests and no digital membership card.
