Our first experience in Western Australia (WA) was short, but very sweet. I was already planning my return visit before we left! The pleasant weather, constant sunshine, gorgeous beaches, and clean city streets had us feeling like this cosmopolitan city might be a utopia. Here’s what we did during our 3 nights in the chill city of Perth.
Public transportation in Perth is awesome (something we’ve found true for most of Australia). We purchased an all-day pass (from a bus driver) for 6.20 AUD each. This was a great deal, since it was good for all public transportation in the area (buses, trains, even ferries)
Fremantle is an adorable, coastal town with lots to do and see, including some pretty great craft breweries.
We went to Sail and Anchor and loved the ambiance. The beer was okay – not our favorite, but still good.
If I went again, I’d check out Little Creatures Brewing to get some great ocean views.
Kings Park and Botanic Gardens
A great, free activity, an easy walk from our hotel downtown Perth. You could spend lots of time in this manicured park – and we noticed that lots of the locals do just that!
An easy 30 minutes on a bus from Elizabeth Quay (or the CBD of Perth) will get you to Cottesloe beach, one of the most popular beaches near Perth.
Things We Missed:
Rottnest Island: Even though it’s very touristy, I would’ve loved to see the adorable and unique animals called quokka. However, the ferry was quite expensive so we decided to nix it this time around.
Small bars: Apparently, Perth has quite a few small bars, which we are very into. We had our sights set on the Hula Bula bar, but it was sadly closed on Monday. Other small bar to try: 399 Small Bar
