Must Dos in Nashville

I previously posted about my Google Doc template for planning trips. I’ll begin sharing some of that information here. First stop: Nashville!

I went to school at Vanderbilt University (henceforth referred to as Vandy), which means my friends and I got to spend lots of time in Nashvegas. Here are some of the top places I would recommend checking out if you get the chance to visit:

Bluebird Cafe: You’ve probably heard of it (maybe even on the show Nashville). Could also be in the “Activities” category. Get here super early to save a spot in line. First come first serve to watch the performance and eat/drink. You can reserve a spot for certain shows online; instructions here

Pancake Pantry: Brunch/breakfast. Very long line, but worth the wait – try the Sweet Potato pancakes

Jacksons: right next door to the Pancake Pantry. They have brunch all day! Try the cookie dough egg rolls

Fido: Cute/famous coffee shop near Vandy/Pancake Pantry. Has been known for celeb sightings…

Noshville: New york deli/diner style; cheap & delicious hangover food if necessary. Right by Vandy

Arnold’s Country Kitchen: Southern food, downtown

The Smiling Elephant: Tiny restaurant; great Thai food.

Pharmacy burger: come for the burger, stay for the beer garden

Restaurants I haven’t been to, but have only heard great things:

Monells: All you can eat in Germantown. Fixed price; lunch is a bit cheaper. Go for brunch

Loveless Cafe: People rave about the food

Rolfe and daughters: Germantown

Marche Artisan Foods: east Nashville

Margot Cafe & Bar: east Nashville

Etch: downtown

Silly Goose

Urban Grub

The Southern

The Mad Platter: Germantown

Kayne Prime Steakhouse

PM: Asian fusion

Puckett’s: has live music sometimes

Patterson House: One of my favorite bars in the city. It’s a speakeasy “hidden” under the Catbird Seat. $12 delicious cocktails. Try the deviled eggs or warmed olives as a snack. If you’re feeling brave and/or love bacon, try the Bacon Old Fashioned

-Rippys, Honky Tonk, The Stage, Tootsies: Live music. the first two have multiple floors.

-The Big Bang: Piano bar. Go next door (Paradise Park) for late night food & a band

Division Street:

On the way from Vanderbilt to Broadway (if you get sick of Broadway); can have live music.

-Rebar: Go for a Bushwacker. They have darts and an outdoor porch.

-Winners and Losers: pick your poison

-Tin Roof, Dan McGuinness: Go on thurs nights to see Vandy kids in their natural habitat

Outdoor/Day Activities

Percy Warner Park

Centennial Park: across from Vanderbilt’s Campus

Tour Vanderbilt; it’s an arboretum

Cheekwood Botanical Garden & Museum of Art
